Guaranteed Interview Scheme

As part of our commitment to the employment of disabled people, we operate a Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS).  The GIS does not guarantee a job. However, its objective is to ensure a guaranteed number of disabled applicants, who meet the minimum essential criteria for the role they have applied for, are offered an interview.

Pre-Employment Checks
To be officially appointed at Northern Ireland Screen, all candidates who successfully complete the selection process will be required to undergo an Access NI Basic Disclosure Check. Human Resources will provide further guidance once a candidate has been provisionally offered the position.

 

Trainee Storyboard Artist – Paper Owl

Paper Owl Films is offering a paid 12-month placement for a Trainee Storyboard Artist, starting in September 2025. This opportunity is part of Northern Ireland Screen’s Company Placement Scheme and is paid at the Real Living Wage, with the potential to extend for a further 12 months.

Job Summary:

  • Job Title: Trainee Storyboard Artist
  • Placement Company: Paper Owl Films
  •  Contract Length: 12-month Company Placement, with potential extension.
  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Hours: 37.5hrs per week
  • Salary: Real Living Wage (currently £12.60 per hour)

Job Description:
Requirements of the role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assist in translating scripts and director notes into clear, compelling storyboards.
  • Support the creation of panel-by-panel sequences, incorporating camera moves, staging, and composition.
  • Collaborate with storyboard artists, directors, and other departments to maintain visual consistency and storytelling clarity.
  • Participate in team meetings and reviews, receiving and implementing feedback.
  • Learn and use Toon Boom Storyboard Pro to industry standards.
  • Manage and organize storyboard files and maintain version control.
