Health and Safety / Emergency First Aid course – May 2019

Date Posted: April 30, 2019

Northern Ireland Screen will run training for the BECTU Creative Industries Health and Safety Passport on Monday 13th May. This is a nationally recognised training course (accredited by IOSH).  This course will teach you:

  • How and why we need safety policies and Risk Assessments.
  • Health & Safety law.
  • How to identify and assess risks and hazards – and how to ‘dynamic’, on-the-job risk assessments yourself.
  • Practical control measures.
  • Accident reporting and how to cope with working at height, electricity, fire, stress, manual handling, lone working etc.

Northern Ireland Screen will also run an Emergency First Aid at Work 1-day course on Tuesday 14th May. The qualification obtained at the end of this day long course is valid for 3 years.

All film and TV sets require at least one qualified First Aider to be on set. During heavy filming days, particularly when large numbers of crew, cast and extras are present, a greater number of First Aiders are required.  This course provides ‘hands on training’ and will cover things such as dealing with an emergency, electrical incidents, accident recording & reporting and assessing a casualty.

The training is primarily aimed at existing crew members looking to renew their training.

Places are limited and will be awarded on a first come first served basis and completion of our Equality Monitoring Form. Please attach a copy to your email.

To book your place, please e-mail: [email protected]. Closing date for applications is Tuesday 7th May 2019.
