USBF Committee Recruitment

Date Posted: November 16, 2016

Northern Ireland Screen is seeking to appoint up to three independent representatives for the Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund (USBF) Investment Committee. We particularly welcome applications from women as they have been underrepresented on the Committee

The USBF was set up to provide finance for the production of quality moving image projects on the Ulster-Scots heritage, culture and language in Northern Ireland. The USBF has been operational for over 5 years and since its inception has commissioned 92 hours of television and supported 3 digital content projects. The Fund has worked with a range of broadcasters including BBCNI, UTV, STV and RTE and has supported a wide variety of programming.

The USBF Investment Committee is chaired by a Northern Ireland Screen board member and consists of a nominated member from the Ulster-Scots Agency, a nominated member from BBCNI and 3 independent representatives on behalf of the Ulster-Scots audience and sector.

The Committee’s role is to make decisions on all applications submitted to the USBF; act as an advisory panel to Northern Ireland Screen’s board on any matters relating to Ulster-Scots; advise on how to maximise the effectiveness of the USBF in delivering against its objectives and promote the work of the fund.

Committee Members are appointed for a 3 year term and it is anticipated that the Committee will have a minimum of 3 meetings per annum. A one day training session forms part of the Committee induction process for new members. Through this training Committee Members will learn more about the work of both Northern Ireland Screen and the USBF. The role of Committee member is a non-remunerated position.

The closing date for receipt of all application forms is 12 noon on Monday 28th November 2016.
