WFTV NI launch Mentoring Scheme and Meet the Commissioner

Date Posted: March 3, 2020

WFTV Northern Ireland has announced its first event of 2020 and the launch of its inaugural Northern Ireland Mentoring Scheme, sponsored by Netflix.

Have you got a fantastic idea for a ground-breaking documentary or series? Would you like to find out the best way to get your programme proposal commissioned?

WFTV Chair, Liz Tucker, will be in conversation with Kate Townsend, Director, Original Documentary at Netflix, finding out what makes great television and what you need to do to get that elusive commission.

Before joining Netflix, Townsend ran the BBC’s feature doc strand Storyville. She commissioned docs including Sean McAllister’s A Syrian Love Story, Sundance award-winner Pussy Riot – A Punk Prayer, and Leslee Udwin’s controversial gang rape story India’s Daughter.

During her time at Netflix, Kate has worked on shows including Explained, Sandi Tan’s feature film Shirkers and Follow This.

The WFTV NI Mentoring Scheme launch and Meet the Commissioner will take place on Wednesday 11th March from 18:00-21:00 at The MAC.
