Shorts Submissions Open for Galway Film Fleadh

The Galway Film Fleadh is now accepting short film submissions for the 2017 edition of the festival. Filmmakers with animated, documentary and/or dramatic short films are invited to submit their film for selection for the 29th edition of our festival, which will run for 6 days from 11th – 16th July. Each year the Fleadh shows nearly 100 short films as part of the programme.
Speaking about the shorts programmes, festival programmer Gar O’Brien said: “Our robust short film line-up not only represent the best in new and established voices in Irish Cinema, but also provide a unique international platform to showcase the best Irish Short Films onto the world stage. Over the years, it has been a huge honour and privilege to witness the ever-increasing number of filmmakers who have progressed from having a short film in the programme to premiering a feature-length work here and seeing it go on to international success.”

The Galway Film Fleadh is an Oscar® qualifying festival for the Academy Awards Short Film Category. Winners of the James Horgan award for Best Animation and the Tiernan McBride Award for Best Short Drama will qualify for consideration without the standard theatrical run.
Whether you’re an established filmmaker or a newcomer, all levels of ability are welcome at The Fleadh. The deadline for short film submission is Friday May 12th at 5pm, and the entry fee is €20.
