Date Posted: December 9, 2016

Farset Labs has announced the return of Global Game Jam to Belfast on Friday 20th January 2017, supported by Northern Ireland Screen. Global Game Jam is a 52-hour hackathon, which sees computer game programmers come together to create an innovative and original game by the end of the weekend.

The session will take place at Farset Labs in Weavers Court Business Park and is scheduled to begin at 4pm on Friday 20th January until 8pm on Sunday 22nd January. Gamers of all abilities are invited along to participate as well as artists, musicians and anyone else who bring a creative angle to the process. Attendees will be placed into teams to complete the hackathon, with the theme of weekend due to be announced at 5pm on the first evening.

Global Game Jam began in Belfast in 2009 with a variety of unique and clever games produced by the talented participants who attend each year.

Claire Wilgar, Global Game Jam Belfast: “The event has seen the creation of some amazing games over the years thanks to all the incredible people who have taken part. I would like to thank Northern Ireland Screen for their continued support of Global Game Jam in Belfast, and the games industry in Northern Ireland.

“This is a fantastic event in the local games development calendar, which has grown from strength to strength over the years, and I’m excited to see the new projects that will be created in 2017.”
