The Bookshop

The Bookshop screenplay is written by Isabel Coixet and based upon the novel of the same name by Penelope Fitzgerald.

1959, Hardborough, Sussex coast. After mourning her husband CHARLIE for some time, FLORENCE GREEN (50s) decides to set up a bookshop in a disused building in the village. Immediately she meets opposition. Local grandee VIOLET GAMART has notions of using the building for an arts centre, and brings her influence to bear.
