The Nerve Centre - Helping young people to get to grips with creativity, technology and learning
Northern Ireland Screen Education has worked in collaboration with the Nerve Centre over a number of years.
The Nerve Centre’s education policy aims to demonstrate practical ways in which film, music, animation and digital technologies can enhance current learning and teaching practices. As a Creative Learning Centre, the Nerve Centre provides a range of training and creative activity support programmes for teachers and their pupils in the new technologies of the digital age.
Northern Ireland Screen and the Nerve Centre have developed a number of innovative initiatives supporting the use of moving image in the NI curriculum, including the Creative Learning in the Digital Age pilot (CLDA) and the new Moving Image Arts AS level pilot. Both projects involve broad partnerships including the Council for Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA), NESTA and DCAL.
The Nerve Centre has recently launched a Creative Learning Centre joint initiative with the South Eastern Education and Library Board (SEELB). Studio ON was a direct result of the partnership approach developed through Northern Ireland Screen's A Wider Literacy.
