

The ILBF Skills Development Bursary Fund is designed to assist Irish language speakers with financial support to participate in training courses. A key principle of the fund is that attendance at a training course should lead to advancement of skills, expertise and general career development. This in turn should have an impact on the Irish language production sector. Bursaries are available for Irish language speakers who are committed to the development of Irish language production in Northern Ireland. Application forms may be downloaded below:

Bursaries are available from the ILBF for Irish language speakers to attend the MA courses in the University of Ulster. The ILBF funds two-three MA places annually.
This programme will address the need for enhanced management skills in relation to media production and the creative industries. There will be a particular emphasis on the industries in Northern Ireland, but the course content is intended to be applicable across a range of contexts. The course is not intended to provide production training as such but to develop the entrepreneurial skills, cultural awareness, organizational understanding, project management abilities and creativity of those already engaged in, or intending to engage in, media production at a range of levels.

The course is intended for those who need enhanced creative and production competence in relation to documentary practice. There will be a particular emphasis on creative practice in digital technologies, making the course attractive to both national and international students who wish to attain professional standards. The course is intended to provide training in research, production, post production, exhibition and distribution skills, as well as integrating a theoretical understanding of documentary history and production. The curriculum will be delivered in partnership with screen industries, through a unique combination of professional workshops and masterclasses.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a high level of fluency in both written and spoken Irish to be deemed eligible to apply for a bursary from the ILBF. The MA courses themselves, however, are conducted entirely through the medium of English.
These MA courses can be attended on a full time or part time basis.
