The 15 Second Film Festival Challenge is a unique opportunity for edgy filmmakers / creative-types to show the world what they can do. The 15 Second Film Festival commission, exhibit and distribute micro-short films all over the world through film festivals and prestigious arts events using 'The Mini Mogul' Cinema (a unique 2-seater art deco picture palace). The Festival is now seeking submissions.
There are three ways to participate:
The most important thing is to stimulate quality micro-short film production to add to the yearly batch of sensational shorts. The Festival wants their films to be intriguing and informative, to push boundaries as well as buttons. This scheme is all about attracting interesting filmmakers / artists from all levels, backgrounds and disciplines to take the challenge, compete, have fun, try new things and experiment with only the time as the ‘restrictor’.
A 15 Second Film is exactly 25 seconds long... 5 Seconds of Opening Titles, 15 Seconds of the main body of the film and 5 seconds of closing credits. The titles and credits are there for creative “elbow room”. You can have 8 seconds of opening titles and 2 seconds of credits or any other configuration. In your titles and credits you can have text over picture and sound throughout, like a normal film. One cheat is allowed... you can trim up to two seconds off your end credits to insert a ‘STING’ – a poignant moment / punch line etc.
The Festival want .mov files; in 1280 x 720p uncompressed HD, Frame Rate 25fps with a 16:9 and has to be exactly 25 seconds long (including titles and credits).
To be in this year’s series of 30 short films please submit before the 25th August 2010, or if you cannot make this date, next year’s deadline is the 25th April 2011.
If you are interested, and think you are mogul enough to take the challenge please contact Jill McCracken (details below).
