Film fans across Northern Ireland are in for a treat when the annual Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People opens in Belfast on 16 November. The much anticipated festival runs for seventeen action–packed days in various venues across the city including Movie House Cinemas Dublin Rd, Storm Cinemas, and Queen’s Film Theatre.
This year’s extensive programme, which has something for everyone, boasts over 100 film screenings from 15 countries, including special premieres, international features, and documentaries, and with Translink offering a 2 for 1 deal on cinema tickets, there is no better reason to visit the cinema this November!

Special preview films include the European Premiere of ‘A Plumm Summer’ (17 Nov), a fantastic magical family adventure film starring Henry Winkler and Jeff Daniels, and ‘Bee Movie’ (2 Dec), an animated laugh-out-loud comedy featuring Renee Zellweger.
Over 20 ‘in competition’ features from around the world include the heart-warming tale of ‘Mystery of the Wolf’ (30 Nov), the adventure-filled quest of ‘The Lost Treasure of the Knights Templar’ (18 Nov), the simple love story ‘Little Box of Sweets’ (20 Nov), and the story of war and friendship told in the Swedish made film ‘Zozo’ (19 Nov)
Documentary fans can enjoy ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ (22 Nov), ‘Belfast Girls’ (22 Nov) and ‘The World According to Sesame Street’ (28 Nov). Fun for all the family is guaranteed with special classic screenings of ‘King Kong’ (17 Nov), ‘Jason and the Argonauts’ (17 Nov), ‘Back to the Future’ (24 Nov), ‘ET’ (18 Nov), and ‘West Side Story’ (18 Nov) to name but a few!
Cinemagic is proud to welcome Special Effects wizard Brian Freisinger who is traveling from L.A to Belfast to enlighten audiences at a Q&A before the screening of ‘Bridge to Terabithia’, on 21 November. Brian was chief model maker on the film set of ‘Bridge to Terabithia and has also worked on films such as Constantine, Matrix: Reloaded and Matrix: Revolutions.
Much respected Film Critic, Broadcaster and Journalist Mark Kermode is also taking part in the festival on 1 Dec at Movie House, Cinemas, Dublin Rd. Mark will talk about his fascinating career with BBC Radio Ulster’s Ralph McLean. This event is not to be missed as Mark will be introducing one of his all-time favourite films ‘Silent Running’ which is being screened after the Q&A..
