Advanced paint techniques for the film industry workshop

Date Posted: May 6, 2016

Learn painting processes used in the film industry (and in theatre, marble and wood restoration applications) through demonstrations and practice with one of the most knowledgeable scenic and experienced artists in the film industry on May 28th – 29th in Belfast.

Instructor Joyce Woods (B.Ed., MA) has over 25 years of experience creating trompe l’oeil surfaces for film projects and private clients. She has worked on film and television projects in Canada, China, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland.

This two day intensive workshop will introduce commonly used marbling and wood graining techniques. This course is perfect for art students, artists, theatre set painters, trades painters—those with a desire to expand their skills. Prior painting experience is recommended.

This will be a “hands on” painting experience. Students will finish this course with a portfolio of their own samples. All tools and supplies are included in the course fee. Students should bring a bag lunch, wear appropriate painting clothing, and bring a notebook or clipboard to keep notes and handouts.

The fee for the course is £225. Class space is limited so early registration is recommended.
