Date Posted: March 9, 2018

A number of Irish Language projects supported by Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund, will broadcast during Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) across TV and Online platforms.

Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) is an international Irish language festival and one of the biggest celebrations of the Irish language and culture that takes place each year in Ireland and in many other countries.

BBC Gaeilge’s new observational documentary series, Rothaí Móra an tSaoil, explores some of the changes happening in the community of Rann na Feirste through the prism of local transport company, Bus Feda. The two-part series will broadcast on BBC Two Northern Ireland this Sunday 11 March at 10.20pm and Monday 12 March at 11.15pm.

Rann na Feirste in north-west Donegal is arguably the strongest Gaeltacht area in Ulster. Known for its rich ancient culture, language and song, and for the beauty of its rugged landscape. The community is also experiencing significant change where old traditions, beliefs and ways of looking at the world are increasingly at odds with the demands of modern life. Rothaí Móra an tSaoil is a Macha Media production for BBC Northern Ireland.

Cat a’ Hata! a new Irish language children’s series produced by Zoogon LTD, will broadcast on TG4 from Wednesday 14 March on pre-school series Cúla4 na nÓg at 9.15am and 3.40pm from Monday-Friday.

Cat a’ Hata! is a series of fun natural science adventures featuring two six-year-old children called Sally and Nick. Along with them we are transported on a magical journey to all corners of the globe, making real science discoveries with a cat as our guide. Not any old cat of course, but a cat in a breed (and a hat) all of his own: The Cat in the Hat!  This series is based on the world-renowned educational books written by Dr. Seuss. It’s sure to awaken children’s imagination.

In addition, digital platform #FADUDA will feature a number of Irish Language vlogs to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge. #FADUDA is an online digital platform that interacts with a diverse range of content including make-up, travel, food, sport, fashion, life hacks and humour.

#FADUDA continues to grow in content and momentum, featuring new and emerging talent such as Neepa Sodhi as she travels around the world, Adam Alsybury who answers fitness questions and Róisín Ní Mhaoláin and Clíodhna Ní Dhufaigh who provide a behind the scenes insight into university life.

The vlogging channel is produced by Paper Owl Films for BBC Northern Ireland and can be accessed here: bbc.co.uk/gaeilge

Seachtain na Gaeilge á comóradh ag ábhar an CCG

Tá roinnt tionscadal Gaeilge de chuid Chiste Craoltóireachta Gaeilge Scáileán Thuaisceart Éireann le craoladh ar an teilifís agus ar ardáin ar líne araon le linn Sheachtain na Gaeilge.

Is féile Ghaeilge idirnáisiúnta í Seachtain na Gaeilge agus í ar na féilte is mó a dhéanann ceiliúradh ar an Ghaeilge agus ar an chultúr Ghaelach gach bliain in Éirinn agus i dtíortha go leor eile chomh maith.

Sa tsraith seo de scannáin fhaisnéise bhreathnaitheacha ó BBC Gaeilge, Rothaí Móra an tSaoil, fiosraítear cuid de na hathruithe atá ag tarlú sa phobal trí phriosma comhlacht áitiúil iompair, Bus Feda. Craolfar an tsraith dhá chlár ar BBC Two NI, Dé Domhnaigh 11 Márta ar 10.20 i.n. agus Dé Luain 12 Márta ar 11.15 i.n.

D’fhéadfaí cás a dhéanamh gurb é Rann na Feirste in iarthuaisceart Dhún na nGall an ceantar Gaeltachta is láidre i gCúige Uladh. Tá sé clúiteach as an saibhreas ársa cultúir, teanga agus amhránaíochta agus as áilleacht gharbh an tírdhreacha atá ann, ach chomh maith leis sin, is áit é a bhíonn ag síorathrú, áit a mbíonn seantraidisiúin, seanchreidimh agus seandóigheanna le hamharc ar an saol ag teacht salach níos mó agus níos mó ar riachtanais shaol na nua-aoise. Is léiriú de chuid Macha Media é Rothaí Móra an tSaoil do BBC Thuaisceart Éireann.

Is sraith Ghaeilge nua do pháistí é Cat a’ Hata! arna léiriú ag Zoogon LTD agus a chraolfar ar TG4 ón Chéadaoin 14 Márta ar shraith naíscoile Cúla4 na nÓg ar 9.15 r.n. agus ar 3.40 i.n. ó Luan go hAoine.

Is sraith oideachasúil é ‘Cat a’ Hata’ atá lán le heachtraí eolaíochta spraíúla a bhíonn ag beirt pháistí sé bliana d’aois, Nick agus Sally.  Leanaimid iad ar thuras draíochta go ceithre hairde an domhain agus fíorfhionnachtana eolaíochta á ndéanamh acu agus cat mar threoraí acu.  Ní haon ghnáthchat é ar ndóigh ach cat ar de phór (agus de hata) ar leith é: Cat a’ Hata!  Tá an tsraith seo bunaithe ar na leabhair oideachasúla chlúiteacha a scríobh Dr. Seuss agus is cinnte go spreagfaidh na cláir seo samhlaíocht na bpáistí.

Anuas air seo, beidh roinnt vlaganna Gaeilge ar an ardán digiteach #FADUDA chun Seachtain na Gaeilge a cheiliúradh. Is ardán digiteach ar líne é #FADUDA a phléann le réimse leathan ábhair – ó smideadh, taisteal, bia, spórt, faisean, seifteanna saoil agus greann.

#FADUDA ag fás leis agus é ag tógáil siúil de shíor, le hábhar nua agus le vlagálaithe nua araon ag teacht chun cinn amhail Neepa Sodhi agus í ag taisteal ar fud na cruinne, Adam Alsybury a bheidh ag plé cúrsaí aclaíochta agus tabharfaidh Róisín Ní Mhaoláin agus Clíodhna Ní Dhufaigh léargas dúinn ar shaol na hollscoile.

Is léiriú de chuid Paper Owl Films é an t-ardán vlagála do BBC Thuaisceart Éireann agus tá teacht air anseo: bbc.co.uk/gaeilge
