Date Posted: May 28, 2013

Dan Cruickshank is Britain’s leading art & architectural historian. In this series expert Dan takes us on a personal journey to explore various aspects of Ulster’s architectural history.

The series features four themed episodes, Forts and Castles, Country Life, Sacred Spaces, and City of Industry. In each episode Dan will examine how a particular style and form of building evolved through the influence of invasion, wealth, religion, and industry.

In each case, Dan will explore the stories of not only the buildings but also the people who built, lived and worked in them, including the Normans, the Ulster-Scots, the landed gentry and the workers and industrialists of the linen age.

The series begins on BBC4 on Wednesday 29th May with the first two episodes airing back to back. The first being Forts and Castles at 8pm and then Country Houses at 8.30pm.
