Three Northern Ireland short films; 2p, Elaine and Cowboys & Dissidents will screen at the 6th Lichtspielklub Film Festival, Berlin. The Festival, also known as British Shorts, runs from 11th- 14th January.
The continually expanding event now packs short film screenings, workshops, concerts, talks, and exhibitions into one festival. In 2013 Lichtspielklub boasts a record breaking set of submissions. The three Northern Ireland shorts have all been produced by Lamb Films.
Cowboys and Dissidents, written and directed by Will Maloney, tells the story of Roy, a dissident republican assigned with the task of murdering an off-duty police officer in his home. Roy is prepared, focused and ready for action, but when he breaks into the officer’s home, he is greeted by a surprise.
2p is also written and directed by Will Maloney. Billy has an odd obsession; his life's passion lies in collecting 2 Pence coins, learning the value of the tiny things life has to offer. But in his love for 2P's, Billy often misses the big picture. And the girl who just wants him to say hello.
Elaine, written and directed by Lisa Castagner, is a fiction short following one Northern Irish schoolgirl's rite-of-passage in the 1990's.
