12 NI short film writers taking "Short Steps"
SHORT STEPS is a training scheme for short film development, aimed at indigenous entry-level and emerging writers and directors resident in Northern Ireland. The 2012-13 scheme, which launched in August 2012, is now under way with 12 writers having been selected.
Working on their individual projects, the writers will continue to take part in intensive development sessions and focused directing seminars, as well as participating in a read-through exercise with actors in March 2013.
The ultimate aim of the scheme is for each of the 12 writers to have a fully formed script at the end of development, with which they could apply for production funding to help get their short film made.
An update on the 12 writers and their projects can be found here on the Short Steps page in the Business and Skills section of the website.
