The Berlinale Co-Production Market is a two-and-a-half-day service and networking platform designed for producers, financiers, sales agents, distributors, broadcasters and funding representatives who are working in international co-productions.
At the Berlinale Co-Production Market, you have the opportunity to present your project – if it is selected - to interested co-production partners and financiers in pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings.
Participants who attend without their own projects, can request meetings with the selected projects and selected companies in the Company Matching Programme. They can visit the framework programme which offers opportunities to catch up on film financing news in case studies and workshops, get first-hand information on co-production opportunities in specific regions at the “Country Sessions“, or learn from experts and exchange experiences in “Theme Talks”. Informal “Speed Matchings“, cocktail receptions and the “Producers’ Lounge” provide additional opportunities for networking.
In 2012, a total of 39 projects from all over the world were presented at the Berlinale Co-Production Market. 500 industry professionals from all over the world attended the event and met in more than 1000 pre-arranged individual meetings.
Since its first edition in 2004, more than 40% of the projects selected for the Berlinale Co-Production Market have found partners and have gone into production – more than 140 films so far. Many have already screened successfully in cinemas and at international festivals. For example I, ANNA by Barnaby Southcombe which was screened at the Berlinale this year or INHERITANCE by Hiam Abbass which has just screened in Venice. Previous successes include films like the Cannes-films ELENA by Andrei Zviagintsev and AURORA by Cristi Puiu, the 2008 Academy Award nominee MONGOL by Sergei Bodrov and LEMON TREE by Eran Riklis, which won the Panorama Audience Award and was screened theatrically in more than 20 countries.
If you have any questions regarding the project submission, or if you want to participate in the Berlinale Co-Production Market without a project (as a potentially interested co-producer for our by then selected projects), please do not hesitate to contact the team of the Berlinale Co-Production Market.
